well its good if u can get it for free. i dono if i would pay for it. the graphics are orgasmic and the sounds are really good as well, the game itself is very scary too. however it tends to get pretty repedative and boring about half way through, but then picks up again at about 2/3 the way through. it also doesnt play too well with ati cards, nvidia ones are prefered. and its not that difficult of a game to run eitherand runs fairly well on my 2 yr old laptop so it can be done even on an older computer. anyways, its a good game but not necesairly worth purchasing.

hate microsoft if you will, but until someone/anyone beats ms office, it will continue to rule. much like its windows 2003 counterpart, this is a very stable version. the new notebook view in word, the word processor, is a delightful rip-off of onenote for windows, a note-taking and organizing program. in situations where fast note-taking is essential ␔ lectures and interviews come to mind ␔ this view presents a tabbed on-screen notebook and keystrokes that make it easy to type an outline. best of all, if you click a record button, your microphone records the proceedings. later you can play back a certain audio segment just by clicking the corresponding spot in your notes.the other killer new feature is in powerpoint, the slide-show software that's loved or loathed by corporate presenters the world over. it's a new view called presenter tools, designed especially for laptops hooked up to projectors. in this mode, the audience sees only your projected slides. but on your laptop, you see a very different, private display. beneath a half-size version of each slide, you see your own notes; for the first time in powerpoint, you can cheat from a script without letting the audience catch wise. second, you see a timer, which keeps you from sabotaging your own pitch by running overtime. third, you see miniatures of the previous slide, your current slide and what's coming up next. no longer do you risk being just as surprised by the next slide as the audience. from the first time you use them, these tools translate into better pacing, better delivery and greater confidence. if you've used a mac for any time, then once a program does everything anybody could ever ask of it, adding more features like these is just icing on the icing. well worth the upgrade folks.

gotta give it two thumbs up. i did what no other program could. was able to crack the protection on a diablo cd, and store the image to disk. now i can play the game with out the cd. of course doing the floppy disk shuffle, well in this case cd shuffle, was never my cup of tea. can also become quite annoying at times.

since the feature descriptions i posted on my submission were dropped along the way, here's an abbreviated list.** mirrors screenthe program works by mirroring one screen onto another. the basic usage would involve a laptop screen and a projector showing a mirrored copy of your laptop screen to an audience, for a live software demonstration.the program works by repeatedly grabbing screenshots of your main display, optionally manipulating the screenshot, and then showing it on your mirrored display (ie. the projector).** live zoomthe program will zoom up a portion of your main display to 2x its width and height. you can move the zoomed area around on your laptop display by moving four draggable corner handles, or you can enable the follow-the-mouse mode which will make sure the mouse is always inside the area.** live highlightingyou can "highlight" an area to focus the attention of the audience by fading out everything outside of the area to a near-white color, just barely showing the screen beneath, still live. this area is sizable, again with four draggable corner handles, and movable. you can either set it up by dragging the corner handles, or click+drag a rectangle around an area, or pick a window by holding down ctrl.** drawingdraw on a snapshot of the screen, in different colors, pen widths, using freehand, rectangles or lines. the image will be saved to disk when you exit drawing mode.** pause screenset up a pause screen showing a title, info-text (like what happens after the break), and the current time.** saved viewsyou can prepare for your demonstration by saving the zoom area, highlight area, pause screens, and more and quickly restore them during your demo.** hotkeys and menueither configure system-wide hotkeys for your most used functions, or use the popup menu that includes the main functions, or the tray icon which gives access to the rest.

kicks the crap out of vmware workstation in terms of performance and reliability. within the last few weeks i went on a course where i was required to use vmware for the virtual facilities used in the course. i was not surprised to see bugs that have existed since 4.x still unresolved in the latest version. by the end of the course i was positively pining for virtualbox and was reminded why, despite the occasional foibles i have encountered across various releases, why i chose virtualbox over the pig-in-a-wig garbage that is vmware.long live this application.five stars for continual excellence across multiple platforms (i use it in windows and linux).

i have no respect for any program that immediately starts downloading dependencies without bothering to first check if their present. who doesn't have the vc++ runtime on their system at this point?? at least least ask me if you can't be bothered to write the five lines of code!

re: multimedia centre: well at least i can watch tv again. recording doesn't work, and most fatures are bare bones only, but it's better than nothing. re: new drivers: ati seems to have resolved some of the stability issues with the 1st set. no more bsod with quake iii, quake ii now runs fullscreen. now, if they'll just make 'em smp stable for my bp6...
